Wazeer Ruiters is a respected community leader from the Cape Flats in South Africa, particularly known for his impactful work with youth and young adults from community teams and from many primary and high schools within the WCED clusters through marching bands and drumming mentorship programs. His efforts are focused on:
Wazeer Ruiters stands out as a community leader and coach who leverages marching bands as tools for empowerment and transformation. Through his supportive guidance, students gain valuable life skills, improved discipline, emotional growth, and a strong sense of belonging—helping them rise above the adversities often faced in the Cape Flats.
These impacts have been touching many youth on the Cape Flats and some who evens today serves as positive role models, model citizens and powerful leaders themselves by coaching and motivating their own community teams themselves whom had been impacted by Wazeers generous ongoing commitment and dedicating coaching support, assistance and inspiring figure on the Cape Flats marching bands for almost TWO DECADES with no funding and supporting grants.
Corporate groove connection by Wazzo was established in 2026 and is being used to generate an income for himself and facilitators working along side him with the same vissions and intentions, to maintain marching and drumming on the Cape Flats for the vulnerable youth in under resourced communities and expand these activities and sport to the rest of South Africa.
Also tackling the high rate of unemployed youth, by creating opportunities for youth to undergo training as facilitators and create opportunities for paid stipends at every session hosted.
Any donation small or big would no doubt be a huge investment to allow youth to have a positive activity and home off from the CAPE FLATS streets.
Program Overview:
Under the Same Umbrella Wazzo’s percussion & marching academy has given birth to its own unique style of corporate teambuilding sessions the “Corporate groove connection” By Wazzo. It offers high-energy, interactive corporate team-building sessions using marching snare and bass drums. These sessions are designed to foster teamwork, discipline, leadership, and communication skills in a unique and memorable way. Participants learn rhythm, coordination, and timing while building a sense of unity and accomplishment.
How the Program Works:
1. Welcome & Icebreaker (10-15 mins)– Quick introductions and rhythm-based warm-up games to energize the group.
2. Drumming Basics (20-30 mins) – Learn foundational snare and bass drum techniques, including beats, sticking patterns, and simple call-and-response exercises.
3. Team Synchronization (20-30 mins)– Participants work in small sections to play coordinated rhythms, emphasizing communication, listening, and collaboration.
4. Full Ensemble Performance (20-30 mins)– All participants combine their parts into a full drumline performance, reinforcing teamwork and group cohesion.
5. Reflection & Debrief (10-15 mins)– Facilitators lead a discussion on lessons learned: leadership, coordination, problem-solving, and team communication.

Many young people grow up in environments where positive extracurricular opportunities are limited. Without structured programmes, youth are vulnerable to negative influences such as crime, substance abuse, and school dropout.
The proposed Percussion and Marching Training Programme aims to address these challenges by creating a safe, disciplined and creative environment where youth can develop practical skills, confidence and leadership abilities.
2. Community Need
In many schools and neighbourhoods on the Cape Flats, access to formal music education and marching arts training is extremely limited. Instruments, training resources and experienced instructors are often unavailable.
This project responds directly to that need by providing:
Structured marching and percussion training
Leadership and discipline development
Performance opportunities
Positive community engagement
The programme will focus particularly on youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who would otherwise not have access to arts training.

Over time the programme aims to:
• Provide employment opportunities for youth to receive paid stipends, leaders and instructors with a guaranteed employment contract via the (3 PHASE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PATHWAY) In partnership with Western province marching association (WPMA) and Western Cape Education Department (Wced)
• Expand participation to additional schools and communities throughout the country
• Build a strong community marching arts culture
• Provide pathways toward professional careers
